Third-party data

To determine the approximate country a request originates from (country level only, no positioning), we use the IP to Country Lite database by DB-IP, made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence.

The frequency ordering of our frequency decks is based on two open datasets. We do not publish any third-party frequency values, only our own ranking derived from them:

• Leipzig Corpora Collection (download corpus `deu_news_2025_1M`), Goldhahn, Eckart & Quasthoff (2012), wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de - CC BY 4.0. Adapted: cleaned, lemmatised, own ranking.
• FrequencyWords (OpenSubtitles 2018) by hermitdave, github.com/hermitdave/FrequencyWords - CC BY-SA 4.0. Derived from it: the word selection of the "Film & TV" deck. Ordering, translations, example sentences and all learning content are our own.
