Explanation

The ihr-imperative gives a command to several people you know well. It is simply the ihr-form of the with the ihr dropped: ihr kommt becomes Kommt!

  • Kommt! (come), Geht! (go), Wartet! (wait)
  • Stem-changing verbs cause no trouble here, because the ihr-form has no vowel change: ihr esst becomes Esst!, ihr fahrt becomes Fahrt!, ihr sprecht becomes Sprecht!
  • sein is irregular: Seid ruhig!
  • split: mitkommen becomes Kommt mit!

Common mistake: Do not add ihr in front and do not use the du-form endings. It is Kommt!, never Ihr kommt! And remember Seid! with -d, not Seit.
