Indefinite article 'eine' (a/an, feminine, accusative)

Feminine 'eine' does not change in the accusative. It looks exactly like the nominative form, so you simply keep eine.

Use eine for a feminine noun as the direct object when it is non-specific (a, any):

• Ich habe eine Frage. - I have a question.
• Ich kaufe eine Tasche. - I am buying a bag.
• Ich brauche eine Pause. - I need a break.

Compare the two cases - the article is identical:

• Nominative: Eine Lampe steht dort. - A lamp is standing there.
• Accusative: Ich kaufe eine Lampe. - I am buying a lamp.

In the accusative, only the masculine indefinite article changes (ein → einen). Feminine and neuter stay the same.

Common mistakes:

• Adding -en by analogy with the masculine: Ich habe einen Frage is wrong; it must be eine Frage.
• Thinking every object needs a changed article - only the masculine does.
