Adversative connector 'jedoch' (however)

jedoch is a conjunctional adverb meaning however / but. It marks a contrast or restriction and is a more formal equivalent of aber. It is flexible in position: it can open a clause or sit in the middle field (Mittelfeld).

When jedoch stands at the start of a clause, the verb comes before the subject (inversion). When it sits inside the clause, normal word order continues around it.

• Treating it as a coordinating aber that allows a comma + verb-first main clause; jedoch behaves like an adverb, so place it carefully.
