Born Klaus Günter Karl Nakszynski, Kinski became world-famous above all through his work with director Werner Herzog, in films such as 'Aguirre, the Wrath of God' (1972), 'Nosferatu' (1979) and 'Fitzcarraldo' (1982). He was regarded as the 'enfant terrible' of German cinema, with legendary fits of rage. Today his work is closely tied to a reckoning with the man himself: several of his daughters, including actress Nastassja Kinski and Pola Kinski, publicly stated that he had abused them as children.
