yappen
to talk nonstop / ramble about trivial stuff (often mildly pejorative)
Origin
From English 'to yap' (onomatopoeic for the yelping/barking of small dogs), colloquially 'to chatter, ramble, babble'. The Germanized form 'yappen' means loud, nonstop talking about trivial topics and is used in a mildly pejorative way. It became popular from mid-2024 via TikTok and other social media and was a candidate for the 2024 Jugendwort vote.
