Wingman
wingman; a friend who helps you approach/win over a romantic interest (anglicism)
Origin
Anglicism, literally 'wing man', originally from military/aviation jargon: the pilot who flies in formation alongside the leader and covers them. The term became known through films like 'Top Gun'. In youth and dating slang the wingman is the friend who backs you up while flirting - striking up conversations, hyping you up and steering the attention of the love interest toward you.
