Smash

to be (sexually) into someone / 'would smash' - from the game 'Smash oder Pass'

Origin

'Smash' is a conjugated form of the 'smashen', borrowed from English, and comes from the online/party game 'Smash or Pass', in which people are rated by attractiveness as 'Smash' (you'd be into them) or 'Pass' (no interest). In youth slang 'Smash' expresses that you find someone (sexually) attractive. The word was named Jugendwort des Jahres 2022 in Germany (between 'cringe' in 2021 and 'goofy' in 2023).
