Sheesh sein
to be impressive/jaw-dropping (verb-y use of the exclamation 'sheesh')
Origin
From the English exclamation 'sheesh', a variation of 'geez', which in turn goes back to 'Jesus' (attested in English since the 1950s). As an expression of awe, appreciation or surprise ('awesome, wow, oof'), 'sheesh' – partly via the Austrian rapper Money Boy – became a top-3 Youth Word of 2021 (losing to 'cringe'). In some groups it is verbalised: 'something/someone is sheesh' = very impressive; often written with drawn-out 'e's ('sheeesh') to intensify the exclamation.
