'Schere' or 'die Schere heben' (to raise the scissors) was one of the top-3 youth words of 2024 and expresses an admission of guilt - roughly 'yeah, it was me, I confess'. Its origin is considered disputed: it probably began as an insider joke in the gaming scene and was first used by two streamers during a live broadcast of the game ' Guys'. An alternative explanation places the gesture in football, where players raise a hand after a misplaced pass to take the blame.
