Moneten

Jocular colloquial word for money. According to Wiktionary it first arose in 18th-century student slang and goes back to the Latin plural 'monetae'. 'Moneta' was an epithet of the goddess Juno, in whose temple Rome's mint was located. Today the word sounds slightly old-fashioned and witty.
