Origin
Internet and rap slang for 'loser', 'failure' or 'victim'. The form goes back to Korean laughter 'ㅋㅋㅋ' (kekeke): in World of Warcraft, 'LOL' typed by the rival faction was shown as 'KEK' through a character-substitution cipher. Independently, German rappers such as Bushido and Fler used 'Kek' as an insult from around 2002; in Turkish slang 'kek' also means 'cake'. These threads converge in today's meaning.
