Ische

chick, girl / girlfriend (colloquial, sometimes slightly disrespectful)

Origin

Colloquial, especially in Northern Germany and the Ruhr area, for a (young) woman or one's girlfriend. The word comes from West Yiddish אישה (ishe), ultimately from Hebrew אִשָׁה (isha) 'woman'; it is also documented in Rotwelsch (thieves' cant) since the 18th/early 19th century. Depending on context it can sound disrespectful or pejorative.
