Hayvan

From Turkish 'hayvan' ('animal, beast'), which itself has Arabic roots; usually used derogatorily for someone who behaves in an uncontrolled or disrespectful way. The term became known in youth slang through the rapper KC Rebell's track of the same name (album 'Rebellution', 2014). Depending on context, 'Hayvan' can also be meant admiringly (e.g. for a muscular, hard-training person); in 2014 the word reached 3rd place in the Jugendwort des Jahres vote.
