Hamudi

An Arabic term of endearment and diminutive belonging to the root ḥamida (حَمِدَ, 'to praise') or the adjective ḥamīd ('praiseworthy'), meaning 'the praiseworthy/praised one'. It is used above all as an affectionate pet form of the name Muhammad (or Hamid). In German rap and youth slang 'Hamudi' serves as a friendly, affectionate form of address; it is, however, attested more strongly as a name/pet form, while the pure slang form of address is less formally lexicalized.
