Origin
Anglicism from English 'to ghost' (from 'ghost'). Describes someone suddenly withdrawing from one day to the next and no longer responding to contact at all - as if the person had vanished like a ghost. Especially common in the dating context, when a budding relationship is broken off without comment. Hence the 'Ghosting'.
