fly

cool, awesome, in great form (as a compliment)

Origin

From US hip-hop; 'fly' goes back to 'flying' - someone who is 'fly' figuratively hovers above things (laid-back, 'elevated', relaxed). The expression reached the German-speaking world partly through rappers such as Money Boy (album 'Ich Bin Fly', 2013). 'Fly sein' was chosen by Langenscheidt as Jugendwort des Jahres in 2016, in the sense of 'being especially laid-back'.
