Origin

A determinative compound of 'Ehre' (honor) and 'Frau' (woman, with a linking -n) and the female form of 'Ehrenmann': a woman marked by an honorable disposition and on whose word one can rely. In youth slang she is someone who does something exemplary or helpful. Together with 'Ehrenmann', 'Ehrenmann/Ehrenfrau' was voted Jugendwort des Jahres in 2018.
