„Digga“ is a dialectal Hamburg variant of „Dicker“ (a familiar form of address between friends). The 'gg' spelling reflects the northern, Hamburg pronunciation of 'ck'. Through the Hamburg hip-hop scene the word entered nationwide youth slang, and today it serves as a value-neutral, friendly form of address – much like English 'bro' or 'dude'. The variant spelling „Digger“ is also common.
