checken

to understand / get it (youth slang); colloquially also 'to check, verify'

Origin

Borrowed from English 'to check' ('to verify, control'), formed by conversion from the 'Check' plus the German ending '-en'. The youth-slang sense 'to understand, to get it' is a German semantic extension that does not exist this way in English (per Wiktionary partly by analogy with 'to check in/out'). Alongside it, the literal sense 'to check, look up' survives colloquially.
