Anglicism from English 'to cancel' (to call off, to scrap). In youth and internet language it means above all to publicly shun and socially exclude a person after controversial statements or actions - in the context of 'cancel culture'. Besides that, 'canceln' also has the plainer meanings of 'to call something off' (e.g. a flight) or to stop a running program.
