Bro

bro; mate, buddy (friendly address; also wry third-person 'this guy')

Origin

Anglicism, a short form of English 'brother'. In German 'Bro' is a casual, youth-slang form of address among peers – parallel to 'Digga', 'Brudi' or 'Bratan' – and now crosses the gender line (girls/women are addressed this way too). Often used ironically in the third person about someone: 'bro thinks he's funny.' Common variants are 'Bre' and 'Bra'.
