Origin multilingual and disputed: in Albanian 'Bre' is used colloquially as 'man!' and traced back to the word 'burr/burrë' ('man'); in the South-Slavic area (e.g. Serbian) it is an interjection meaning 'man', and it is sometimes linked to 'Bra/Bratan' ('brother'). In German youth slang 'Bre' is a casual form of address for a friend or buddy (like 'bro') and spread mainly through German rap, including via Capital Bra and his collaborations with Albanian producers.
