Aura
charisma/vibe scored in points; cool acts earn '+1000 Aura', cringe loses it
Origin
The word was borrowed in the 16th century from Latin 'aura' ('breath of air, gleam of light, haze') and later came to mean a person's special emanation or presence. In youth slang 'Aura' refers to a person's charisma or impact, usually tallied playfully in points: cool acts earn '+1000 Aura', embarrassing moments cost Aura ('−1000 Aura'). Spread via TikTok, it was named Jugendwort des Jahres 2024 by the Langenscheidt publishing house.
